We are RIVAL GODS. Welcome to the noise!
BORN OUT OF THE ASHES OF VARIOUS BANDS, THE PHOENIX HAS RISEN
Formed in early 2020 via video chat during the dreaded COVID-19 lockdown, the band have written most of their songs remotely. Consisting of five highly experienced and eager musicians, Rival Gods are a treat to listen to, especially in these trying times where new and relevant music is sorely needed. After recording their first demos in the second lockdown, the band are looking to book up 2021.
2021 started with the band not even able to meet to rehearse, but a glimmer of hope at the end of February. The Boris man, armed with his scientific sciences of science and stuffs said we can go back to normal SLOOOOWLY.
WE ARE COMING!!!!!
Country boy turned rockstar/lead vocalist;
Sam Van Hooligan started life in classic Rock cover bands gigging various festivals, pubs and clubs up and down the UK, he found himself a keen Songwriter, having played acoustic guitar and Harmonica since age 12 now he writes and performs hard rocking original and catchy tunes for Rival Gods. Personally, when not on tour, he is a keen family man and a massive foodie.
Simon Gray on Drums who not only has been signed to various record labels including the highly rated Animal Farm in London but has played some of the loudest, craziest venues in the UK in various hard hitting Rock Bands in the last 15 years.
On bass we have a Yorkshireman, in every sense of the word, he wastes not, wants not. Bringing to a song precisely what is needed, nothing more, nothing less. With over 20 years gigging experience, playing some of the UK, and Europe’s, finest venues and festivals he knows how to bring the rumble.
A fan of everything from Queen to Avenged Sevenfold, his bass lines are never the same. Don’t expect your regular, run of the mill, shoe gazing bassist here, he’s not known for standing still.
Here is Rival Gods hair flinging, 4 string slinging, merch selling, Yorkshire dwelling bass guitarist ……… Dan Sugden
There he was, now here he is.
Brought up on a diet of Rock n' Roll music courtesy of his dad's collection of 45's, Andy has lived guitar since his teens. Taking his inspiration from luminaries such as Mick Ronson, Slash, Jimmy Page, Per Gessle, Jacob Binzer, Neil Finn, and Jeff Beck to name but a few, Andy has spent years honing his formidable craft as a touring musician. Having entertained over a million people in that time on some of the world's biggest platforms , Andy brings songcraft and stagecraft to the Rival Gods table. An enigma offstage, a force on it.
This is Andy Ball.
On Rhythm guitar a self made, self taught, beyond passionate about music, man. Never settles and believes that integrity is everything. Born to entertain, raised on Queen, the police and Leo sayer. His musical taste ranges from motown to metal with some 80's synth pop and 90's house in the mix too.
Joined his first band as a singer aged 16 and has never looked back.
